Dr. Blackwood received his medical degree from University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1982 and achieved Board Certification in Family Medicine in 1984. Over the past 30+ years, Dr. Blackwood has dedicated his life to his wife, Catherine, his 10 children, and medicine.

Dr. Blackwood began practicing in Virginia Beach more than 25 years ago. In addition to family medicine his expertise also draws from more than two decades as an emergency room physician and he has been a faculty member of the Eastern Virginia Medical School for the past 20 years.

Known for his keen mind, extensive experience, and an uncommon breadth of medical skills, having worked in both rural and urban environments as a private medical practice physician, Dr. Blackwood:
